As scientists continue to unlock the great mysteries of the human body, they’ve discovered a way to tap and redirect powerful healing forces that help rebuild and repair tissue. With regenerative medicine, Ryan Golub, DPM, and Zachary Flynn, DPM, AACFAS, at Arizona Foot Health restore pain-free movement in patients by healing their tissue on a cellular level. Modern medicine has largely been defined by doctors figuring out ways to bypass the human body in order to intervene and help fight off disease or heal injuries. While these efforts have been successful, on the whole, the medical world continues to explore ways to tap the human body’s own resources for better and stronger results. This field is called regenerative medicine and researchers are hopeful of finding more ways to work with your body, rather than against it, in order to maintain your good health.
To date, there have been some promising results using platelets, stem cells, and amniotic tissue to help bolster damaged tissue by encouraging your body to rebuild and repair on a cellular level. Dr. Golub has followed the progress intently and now offers regenerative medicine at his practice because of the rising success rates.
At Arizona Foot Health, Dr. Golub turns to regenerative medicine, namely amniotic growth factor injections, to help with:
Any time your soft tissue is damaged, Dr. Golub uses amniotic growth factor injections to help you heal more quickly.
The amniotic tissue used in the injections is a dehydrated form of amniotic membrane tissue. When a human life is beginning inside a woman, the developing fetus is surrounded by amniotic fluid and the placenta, which provide critical nourishment and growth factors that aid in fetal development. These growth factors are particularly strong as they help to form a human being from the ground up.
To do this, the amniotic tissue contains cytokines, carbohydrates, collagen, hyaluronic acid, multipotent cells, and proteins called growth factors, which all provide the necessary materials for fetal growth. (Rest assured, the tissue that Dr. Golub uses is not part of the fetus and only comes from the discarded tissue after childbirth.)
With amniotic growth factor injections, Dr. Golub introduces these natural healing resources into your tissue to encourage tissue regeneration. While the growth factors in the injections immediately set to work to rebuild your damaged tissue, they also encourage your body to respond in kind.
